Exploring bad faith in tourism

Abstract Previous applications of existential philosophy to tourism have focused on the work Martin Heidegger but neglected contribution Jean-Paul Sartre. This paper examines relevance Sartre's concept ‘bad faith’ tourism. Bad faith is a way living based inauthenticity, self-deception, and disregard for Other. The explores manifestation bad in three contemporary scenarios: flying its implications climate change; conforming expectations other people through social media engagements; sex It argues that - compromising denying individual freedom – underpins many practices. ends by considering future opportunities using understand tourist experiences.
